You Wanna See Something Scary?

Look at these picks

Philly -8 +102 (1)
NY/PHI O214.5 -102 (.5)
LAC +2 EV (.5)
Portland ML +109 (.5)
Portalnd +1.5 -103 (.5)

Only pass were the Grizz

NFL Leans

MIN -4.5 Hou
I'll pass thank you.

Jax -7.5 CIN
I was leaning Bungles early in the week, but there just aren't enough Jags backers after last week's loss to Cleveland.

Tb -9 KC
Thankfully I can pass this game.

CLE -1.5 Bal
As much as I would like to play the Ravens I do not have the consensus to back me up.

BUF -5.5 Nyj
Line looks high, but its getting more action on Buffalo. Not enough to warrant a play on the Jets though.

Arz -3 STL
Not thrilled at the notion of backing St. Louis, but I could see myself doing so on Sunday.

CHI -12.5 Det
Line is drawing near split-action, no play.

TEN -4.5 Gb
Green Bay is primed, but I don't know if I can justify a play on them.

DEN -3 Mia
If anyone could fill me in as to why Denver is getting backed so hard, it would be appreciated.

Atl -3 OAK
Every week I have my leans and almost every week I lean Al Davis

NYG -9 Dal
This line isn't begging for action on the Cowboys, is it?

Phi -7 SEA
Gross

IND -6 Ne
No thanks

WAS -1.5 Pit
Public dog on MNF = auto play

CFB Leans Week 10

The list is quite extensive and it's not something that I'm completely thrilled about. There's a lot of fat on this card that needs to be trimmed.
Caps indicates home team

UCONN +4 wva
In case you didn't know, West Virginia is back after beating Auburn.

NW +7 Minny
I really liked this one early in the week, but now I'm cooling off on the thought of backing NW.

Wisky +5.5 MSU
Really? The oddsmakers haven't been respecting Sparty.

BAYLOR +21 Mizzou
I hope this isn't the same old Baylor team that everyone else thinks it is.

Colorado +3.5 A&M
Nice spot to back the Buffs coming off their 58-0 drubbing at the hands of Mizzou. Meanwhile A&M has developed quite a following lately, hopefully that ends here.

Pitt +5 ND
Unsure about the Pitt QB situation heading into the game. Either way right now a definite lean to the 'Stache. I mean if you can't stop Mike Teel, who can you stop?

LT +4 Fresno
Fresno has really looked solid in their last three games. Do they continue to slide? I'm leaning that way.

Arkansas St +23.5 BAMA
Excuse me while I vomit.

Iowa St +31 BOONE PICKENS
Iowa St really does blow something fierce.

CAL -3 Oregon
Uh-oh, second lean that is going against the Wheel of Genius.

Temple +7 NAVY
I'm told this is a complete mismatch.

North Texas +17 WKU
17-point dog against a team in its first full year of FBS. In case you didn't know it's quite a program they have down there in Denton.

Fla Intl +7 UL-LAF
I, like Vegas, was unaware how special UL-Lafayette was.

CSU +14.5 byu
I really wouldn't mind seeing BYU come up with the cover. I have other rooting interests.

Tennessee +6 OLD BALL COACH
Tennessee has almost become a weekly auto-play

NMSU +21.5 Boise St
The Aggies are coming off an inspired effort last week in Moscow. This line is disgustingly low.

UL-MON +10 Troy
I think Monroe is worse than people realize, but that wouldn't stop me from taking them against an overhyped Troy squad. Well, as hyped as a Sunbelt team can get.

Tulane +26.5 LSU
Is LSU going to be pissed or demoralized?

UNLV +14 Tcu
It's not like Vegas has to go out of their way to attract action on TCU, but they did anyway.

UTEP +3 Rice
Not my most confident of leans, that's probably a good thing.

NM +7.5 Utah
Another MWC Special!

Arizona St +15.5 BEAVERS
Nice game last week Sun Devils.

UCF +3.5 Ecu
Didn't the oddsmakers watch the game last Sunday night?

Tulsa/Arkansas Over and Washington/USC Under are looking like plays right now.

Thursday Night Action

NCAAF:
Cincinnati +2.5 +102 (1)

NBA:
NO/Phx U198 -102 (.5)

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

It's FAN-tastic

My plan for the NBA is to tread lightly. It's a long season and there is no reason why I should let a possible slow start keep me discouraged. To start, regular plays on sides will be .5 and 1 unit on large plays. Regular plays on totals will be .25 with .5 on large plays. As one can plainly see on the second night of the NBA I have two large plays, not the brand of discipline I was hoping to begin with.

Golden St +6 +101 (1)
Nawlins is getting hammered* pretty good everywhere. Basketball Prospectus seems to think Golden State will surprise, while Nawlins will experience the plexiglass principle.

Ind/Det O188 EV (.5)
Any under getting over 70% action on wagerline will more often than not be a play.

Passing Atlanta, Phoenix, Mem/Hou over

Good Luck.

Expect Some Great Football Tonight

Marshall +7 +107 (1)
Houston is riding a hot streak while Marshall has lost three straight including their last one to UAB, who doesn't really count as a team from what I've heard.

Buffalo/Ohio O49 +110 (1)
Teams cannot score in cold weather, especially two teams from the MAC. Look for this total to settle at 42

Also looking at the Houston/Marshall total as well. I don't want to just lose two units tonight, I might want to lose three.

No play on baskets tonight, but I will most likely find something for tomorrow night. Maybe fading a certain team that lost in the WCF Semis who is taking on a team that lost their best player and has another young star out for half the year due to a moped accident.

EDIT - Original total bet was cancelled out, so...

Buffalo/Ohio O48 +106 (1)

Pointless NBA Future

Utah Jazz to win the NBA Championship +2050, risking .8475 to win 17.374

This is a horrible play and has no chance of hitting, none.

9 Suns (6) 6,111 46.5
10 Magic (4) 5,879 47.5
11 Mavericks (1) 5,618 46.5

18 Warriors (0) 3,533 37.5
19 Wizards (0) 3,426 38.5
20 Hawks (2) 3,349 36.5
21 Clippers (0) 3,154 34.5
22 Pacers (0) 2,477 35.5
23 Bucks (0) 2,280 30.5

27 Wolves (1) 1,771 30.5
28 Grizzlies (0) 1,610 22.5
29 Knicks (0) 1,534 32.5
30 Thunder (1) 1,077 25.5

This is the Sportsnation rankings from ESPN. So you know well-informed individuals put much thought into their selections. The number in parenthesis is number of first-place votes, the second number is their acculumated points. The third column is the O/U W-L record that Vegas set. Yes it looks like ass, but I have virtually no formatting knowledge.

Cross-referencing Sportsnation with Vegas O/U the public seems to be down on the Knicks, Bobcats(pre-season record) and Raptors. While overvaluing the Cavs(surprise, I know) and Suns.

The Thunder are perceived to be the worst team in the league by far (regardless of the homer who voted them #1).

Public is also down on the Warriors, I'll side with Basketball Prospectus when it comes to Nellie's squad.

Against All Odds has a breakdown of the Atlantic, Central and Southeast divisions

I'm going to tread lightly at the beginning of the year, my ass is still hurting from last year's playoffs.

Another MNF Under Loser

Usually a 3-1 day is cause for celebration, but when that one loss comes in a sport that I've been struggling to find my rhythm* in, I was none too pleased. ML's graphic design skills show what was so maddening about this specific game.

WAC Special

SJSU +7 +104 (1.5)

Passed on the under, which will hit

NFL Leans

Let me start off by saying the NFL card sucks this week. If I had any self-control I would only play the Dolphins this week, but I might get sucked into backing the Texans and others. The week is already off to a great start. I lost a borderline MAC total and the two plays I passed last night both hit. This week will be a great one, I can tell already. Onto the leans...

bal -9 OAK
I was pleasantly surprised that the Raiders came through in OT last week. A slight lean to Al Davis.

sd -3 no
Both teams coming off losses, playing in London. I think I can pass.

NYJ -13.5 kc
Tyler Thigpen alert! Lean the Jets, most likely not a play unless the line moves up another point.

buf -1.5 MIA
This is the game that stands out like a sore thumb in this sea of crap.

DAL -1 tb
Never thought I would be leaning Dallas, but that's what happens when you lose three straight along with your QB. Not to mention the other distractions that are going on. ESPN kept running a promo saying how the Cowboys wouldn't win a game until Romo came back. Might be a nice spot to back the 'Boys.

PHI -9 atl
This line looks a little high. Are the Falcons still patting themselves on the back after their last second win over the Bears?

NE -9 stl
The slightest of leans to the Rams only because the Patriots dominated the Broncos on MNF.

CAR -4 arz
This reminds me of the Chicago-Minny game from last week. Maybe Arizona will personally hand the Panthers 14 points.

was -7.5 DET
Slight lean to the Lions, but this game will be interesting for mostly non-gambling reasons.

JAX -7 cle
No thank you

PIT -2.5 nyg
Two overhyped squads = pass

SF -5 sea
I'm not even sure the last time the Niners were this big of a fave, probably a couple of years. I'm sure this will be an exciting well-played game.

HOU -9 cin
Lean the Texans because I am a masochist

TEN -4 ind
Indy was finally exposed against the Packers, but the Titans still are not getting any respect from the oddsmakers. Most likely a pass.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Your CFB Leans For WK9

SJSU +7
The oddsmakers know this is Boise St, right? They've already got a spot locked up in the BCS.

Indiana +8
I'm disgusted with this play, yet I like it. Quite a bit in fact.

Eastern Michigan +25
The fading of Ball St combines to meet the backing of EMU. The line has already moved 1.5 points to Ball St and I'll be surprised if it doesn't creep up a little more.

Toledo +4
Central Michigan has quite the following, no?

Kansas -1.5
I'm a moron who already has Kansas locked in at -2.5

Florida -25.5
This doesn't even remotely feel right.

Kansas St +18.5
How many yards will OU rack up this game, 600...700? I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

Baylor +12.5

Duke +10.5
This line seems a little high to me, that's probably because I still view Vandy as garbage.

Rutgers +9.5
meh

Tennessee +6.5
Auto-play

Cal -17
Look everyone it's the Pac-10 public dog of the week....this week the role is being played by UCLA.

LSU -1.5
I hate both of these teams.

Michigan +3.5
I'm sure this will be enjoyable to watch. Remember everyone, Michigan St is going to bounce back.

Iowa St -3
Battle of the heavyweights in the Big 12.

SDSU +9
People are lining up to fade the Aztecs after last week.

Arizona St +3
The consensus numbers are there, but I'm not sold on this play.

Looking at NM/AF under and West Virginia for tonight, not sure if either will be a play though.

WACky Total

It really isn't, I just had nothing better for a title.

Haw/Boise U52 +105 (1)

NFL Leans

ten -8.5 KC
pass

BUF -1 sd
Line movement switches with a majority on San Diego. I'll see how frisky I feel Sunday morning as to whether or not I play Buffalo

pit -9.5 CIN
If I lean anything it would be Pittsburgh, but there's no chance I play this game.

MIA -3 bal
Lean Baltimore, but this will most likely be a pass

dal -7 STL
I'm not getting involved in this game, too many variables in play

CHI -3 min
I don't really want to, but I'll most likely be on the Vikes. This line didn't stand out when I first saw it and it still doesn't, but the Neckbeards are getting hammered. I don't really have a choice.

CAR -3 no
I'll be on the Panthers, no doubt.

NYG -10.5 sf
I can see the Niners covering in this one, but it won't be a play.

HOU -9 det
It'll be nice not to have a vested interest in the Texans this week, they were driving me crazy the last two weeks.

nyj -3 OAK
The hook dropped off early in the week with the Jets getting absolutely pounded. This one is going to be rather ugly and has no chance of a Raiders cover. I, of course, will be on the Raiders.

WAS -7.5 cle
Cleveland is good now, in case you didn't know.

ind -1.5 GB
Packers will be a play, no doubt.

TB -10.5 sea
The Buccaneers gig might be up if they blow out the Seahawks this week. I won't be playing this, but I'm hoping for a gruesome win by Tampa. I don't ask for much.

NE -3 den
Patriots looked horrible last Sunday night. Broncos are getting hammered as a pup. It's Monday Night Football. I'll be on the Pats.

This Night Is Gonna Blow Something Fierce

Florida St -11 +106 (1)
TCU -1 -108 (1.5)

I am really worried that I might start cussing in class while following these games online.

CFB Leans Week 8

Florida St -11
Home Dogs on ESPN are money!!

TCU -1.5
Top 10 team as a dog against an unranked conference foe. Line switching 4 points away from BYU when they are getting hammered. Already put 1.5x on this play, I might tack on an additional .5x for a 2x play (8% of bankroll).

Haw/Boise U52
These teams don't play defense, not a lick

Rutgers +1
What am I thinking going against TheRealUnger? I obviously do not like money.

Maryland +2
This line is just a little low. I'm guessing the bummy Maryland shows up.

Clemson +2.5
Head coach gets fired, so the team will lose. It's a law of nature.

Duke +3
Line has dropped 2.5 points, not sure why. It's not like Duke can beat Miami, right?

Iowa -3.5
Public thinks Wisky is gonna bounce back just fine.

KU/OU U60.5
This bet will be over at 13:39 in the 3rd

Iowa St +8

Tennessee -7.5
Tennessee in no point in this game will be covering

Georgia -14.5
I really will despise Georgia when they win by 14

EMU +3.5

USC -42.5
Hilarious

Washington +14
The Huskies are pathetic, Beavs roll

Arizona +2.5

Western Kentucky +2
They have a football team?

BC -2.5
I know absolutely nothing about BC, they lost Matt Ryan so I'm sure they are a lesser team compared to last year.

Weekly NFL Insights

Another large NFL card that will end in a mix of anger, frustration, agony, and self-doubt. The lines for the games this week are for the most part, disgusting.

NO -7 oak
Leaning Raiders in all their dysfunctional glory. Nawlins didn't get the win against Minny on MNF, but the consensus is that they gave the game away and are still the better team. Plus Nawlins shut down Adrian Peterson, doing the same against Oakland should be no chore. How are the Raiders going to move the ball, with Jamarcus Russell's arm? I don't think so.

IND -4 bal
After Sage Rosenfels worked his magic, Indy isn't viewed in the same light. They are still overvalued while Baltimore is undervalued. Leaning Joe Flacco.

NYJ -7.5 cin
Under was going to be an autoplay until it was announced Palmer was out. Line has dropped to 42.5, I'll weight my options. Not even looking at the side.

TB -1 car
"I'll keep riding the Bucs as long as no one thinks they're any good." - Sham 10-03-08

MIN -13 det
This line is steep, but this is the Lions. Lean Vikes.

chi -3 ATL
The thought of taking Atlanta makes me sick, looks like a play on the Falcons.

HOU -3 mia
Can I take another helping of Sage? Maybe, I really don't fucking want to though.

WAS -13.5 stl
Rams completely blow, but I'm not ready to back them just yet.

DEN -3.5 jax
Lean Broncos because pub is backing Jax as a dog

phi -4.5 SF
This line is gross, that's why I lean Niners.

dal -5 ARZ
Another line that makes one wonder, like Zona quite a bit.

SEA -1.5 gb
Excuse me while I vomit at the notion of backing the Seahawks again.

SD -5 ne
Lean Bolts

nyg -9 CLE
Browns....ugh

Bills are undefeated. Cardinals gave up 56 last week to NYJ and have lost two straight by multiple scores. Bills are are getting pounded as a dog. I think the play is rather obvious.

DAL -17 cin
I don't want to, but I lean Dallas

JAX -4 pit
Couldn't care less

NO -3 min
Unfortunately the Vikings will most likely be a play

CFB Leans Week 6

This is looking like a big week in both college and pro, I'm sure I'll have to drown the pain.

Utah -11
I'm still on the fence with this play, right now it's a weak lean. I might have to play it on principal. Oregon St dominated USC in the trenches last week, everyone saw it. I've heard that if Oregon St shows up with their B game after last week they should cover against Utah, oh really?

Marshall +3.5

Utah St +29.5
This won't look too great when BYU wins 49-0

Kunt St Golden Showers +3.5
Way to get your XP blocked last week fuckers.

Purdue +13
If Purdue can't stop CMU and ND, how on earth will they contain Penn St? I don't know, I'm hoping it has something to do with going on the road for the first time (playing at Syracuse does not count as an official road game because they are not a real team).

Iowa St +13
Not totally disgusted by this play, I know how that usually turns out.

Baylor +27
Oklahoma is unstoppable, they proved as much last week.

Cal -9
Arizona St is getting some love as a pup

We Are K State +7.5
This will be a play, looking to further my disgust by looking at the under. This is ridiculous I know, especially when Texas Tech and their video game offense is going against the future #1 pick in the NFL Draft.

EMU +21
ugh

Air Force -6
This might be a reach, I'll see how the week progresses

Virginia +13.5
Wahoos blow

It's Division I Football, It's the Big 12 +13.5
Another lean that doesn't automatically induce vomiting

Kentucky +16.5
Saban will have his boys ready, this young team won't have a letdown.

Michigan -2.5

Nebraska +11
VT moved the ball over Nebraska, Missouri will have no problem at all.

Might As Well

My plan was to start playing bases next year. I had a few plays in mind when it came to the postseason, but I didn't think I would be taking individual games. Well that has changed, I'm sure I'll be regretting this decision in the coming weeks

Dodgers +144
White Sox +173

Risking .25x for both plays

WAC < Everyone Else

WhACk off U56.5 -101 (1)

Boise St shredded Oregon, La Tech's defense should pose no problem.

passing LT, I'm sure they will cover now.

Divisional Play

Risking .5x
Brew Crew +167
Dodgers +186
Red Sox +128

The first two are follows from ML and VW, putting their heads together they set lines for each game in the Divisional Series and from there determined what the series price should be. The Brewers and Dodgers both have value in their eyes.

The Red Sox play is an original loser by me. I based the selection off the difference in third order record between the teams. The Red Sox were a full 18 games better than were the Angels, that's good enough for me even if I do have to back Red Sox Nation.

I have a sinking feeling that I'm really going to despise the Angles when the playoffs are finished.
